Monthly Meetings

Members meet on the first Friday of each month at each other's home or studio, 9am - 11am. The host member often demonstrates a technique to other members. Our members also lead hands-on workshops, glaze testing sessions, sawdust, raku, smoke fire, paper kiln and wood firings.
 

  • Friday Feb. 5th: 9.00 am:"Preparation for Smoke Firing" Beth Feller and Claire Olivier will share their knowledge of this firing process. Bring any smoke fired pieces for discussion. Notes to be circulated after the meeting. Host: Pat Webber – 425 Stewart Road

     
  • February 21: 6:30 pm"Pot Luck Dinner" Participants from the Workshop with Sequoia Miller will join our Guild members for a Pot Luck Dinner at 6:30 pm. The dinner is for all members on Saturday night at Judy Weeden's
    home - 125 Primrose Lane

     
  • Friday March 5th: 9:00 am: "Smoke Firing" at Claire Olivier's. Dress warmly and bring bisqued pieces to fire and whatever supplies you need to create the effects you are hoping for. Host: Claire Olivier – 191 Dogwood Lane

     
  • Friday April 9th: 9.00 am: "Preparing to Display at Spring Show and Sale". Note the date is the second Friday of the month. Florence Roberge will enlighten us again this year on how to create an aesthetic display of work for our upcoming show. Host: Sonja Barnard – 140 Cedar Lane
     
  • Friday May 7th: 11:00am to 3:00pm:"Setting Up for the Spring Show and Sale at Mahon Hall": Members participating in this show will be setting up at Mahon Hall. Therefore, there will be no meeting this month. If you have pieces for the Gallery Stage, we need them to arrive between 10 am and 12 noon. Join us for the show set up and lend a hand!   • Friday June 4th 9:00 am: "Master Potter Throwing Demonstration" Meg Buckley has been potting for 40 years and has developed during that time the ability to throw pots effortlessly and efficiently. Within minutes, bowls, plates, mugs, jars are thrown and on the shelf! Host: Meg - 2200 Fulford-Ganges Road

     
  • Friday July 9th: 12 noon: "Auction and Picnic Lunch" This is a bi-annual event. Note this is on the second Friday of the month. Every second year we bid, we laugh, we critique and we pay for helpful pottery supplies, books, tools, and other fun and funky stuff that members bring to auction off. Bring auction items to help raise funds for Guild! We will have a lovely pot luck lunch on the beach at Joan Warren's home. Host: Joan - 120 Cottonwood Road

     

  • Friday August 6th: 6:30 pm" Summer Social Meeting and November Show Plans" Bring something to drink and a small appetizer or dessert to share. Host: Carol Dodd - 1214 North Beach Road
