My formal interest in clay began with sculpting the human form in classes with Salt Spring artist Kathy Venter. Another major influence was Seattle artist, Rosette Gault, and paper clay. My work is sculptural and semi-figurative, sometimes whimsical, sometimes political, low-fired in an electric kiln. I'm experimenting, adding rebar and metal mesh, layering glazes and underglazes in the firing process. Afterwards, I may finish a piece with acrylic and Japanese paper.
