Judy Weeden

I have made pots for 40 years after leaving an academic science career. My potting mentors were steeped in the Marguerite Wildenhain and Bauhaus tradition. What they taught me and what the willful clay and fire continue to teach is the guiding principle of my life. My vessels intend a harmonious synthesis of pleasing functional form and fitting decoration. They span a broad range of shapes, both thrown and slab-built. Slip-carved abstractions or orderly geometric patterns tell their stories on the pots' surfaces. Ultimately I hope they speak with clarity and independence.
