  Decoration Exploration:
  Cindy Gibson Workshop

  Saturday and Sunday
  February 18 and 19, 2012

Artspring, 120 Jackson Ave. Salt Spring Island, BC

Cindy Gibson is known for her vibrantly decorated, high-fire porcelain and stoneware. Cindy views each platter or teapot as a canvas. She says, “I love pattern; I love colour; I love painting and I love clay.” Examples of her work include a 2.5 litre teapot depicting medieval musicians in vivid blue and gold, and “The Islands” platter, where ferries, sail boats, forests and mountains spiral into a whimsical whirlpool. A master of ceramic tiles, Cindy designed a mural for a 16th English country home that features 1,000 individually shaped pieces,

Cindy studied ceramics at the University of Manitoba. She works out of her Belle and Dragon Pottery in Victoria.

We are located on Salt Spring Island, off the west coast of British Columbia, Canada, an easy ferry ride from Vancouver or Victoria. Renowned as one of North America's top artistic communities, Salt Spring Island is home to more than 50 studio potters, ranging from internationally renowned ceramic artists to enthusiastic novices.

Our guild membership creates functional, decorative and sculptural pieces, in all firing ranges including specialized firing techniques such as raku, smoke fire and saggar and unique decorative techniques like slip trailing, carving, image transfer and sgraffito. Please visit our member gallery to enjoy the work of our local potters. Our mission is to share the expertise and resources of our guild members, to hold shows and provide learning opportunities.
