Initially I was attracted by the work of other potters. The attraction grew and I gradually became a modest collector. In a short time I wanted to try my own hand at creating pieces of art with clay. This started a journey that has been some 37 years long with experience gained while living in Canada, England and India.
My current work is with a contemporary edge but significantly influenced by primitive techniques. The process involves hand throwing a pot, burnishing the surface smooth, kiln firing, applying artwork with a smoke resist coating, smoke firing, cleaning and final polishing. While most of the process is highly controlled the final smoke firing adds an element of unpredictability. Each piece is unique.
